Partner Visas are for people in one of three situations:
- Partners or fiancés of Australian citizens,
- Australian permanent residents or
- Eligible New Zealand citizens may be eligible for a Partner Visa.
The two options of Australian Partner Visas are:
- Prospective Marriage
This is commonly called a fiancée visa. Historically, it has a nine month validity period. It must be lodged when the visa applicant is outside Australia and is followed by a Spouse visa, which must be lodged when the visa applicant is in Australia.
- Spouse Visas
Include married or de facto partners (including those in a same-sex relationship). The application can be lodged when the applicant is in or outside Australia.
